How to become better for 2026

As we are a few days into the New Year, I want us to keep a few things in mind. We need to Keep God first.                    The most important thing is that we need to make sure we are keeping God first in our lives. One way we can do that is to make sure we are spending more time with God. As much as we spend time looking at social media feeds, we need to spend that time talking to God.     Studying Gods word is one way we can spend more time with him. When we spend time in the bible, we get a better understanding of who God is to us and what he truly means to us. It shows us what God has for our lives and how we can achieve what the calling he has for our lives.  We must take time also in prayer.  But we have to make sure that it is not a one sided conversation. We must be able to take the time and listen to what God has to say to us.  Listening for the voice ...

God, I Thank You

Image
Saying, “God, I Thank You”, sound good to say, but have you ever thought about what you are thanking God for? I have always heard people say, “God, I thank you”, and in my mind I would always think, what are you thanking him for? It was not until I got a little bit older and wiser that I realize, sometimes that is all you have to say. Just thinking back on everything that God had brought me through, I can’t help but to say “Thank you”! Psalms 107:1 says:     “O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” That is powerful! Because he has done so much in our lives that we need to say “thank you”! It so powerful, it is repeated in the Bible several times: Psalms 136:1  “O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” (If you continue reading Psalms 136 in its entirety, it list why we should give thanks unto the Lord.) 1 Chronicles 16:34  “O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy end...

Be mindful of false Prophets and Teachers

As I was cooking I was scrolling through social media. I like watching the funny videos, and from time to time, I find a good live stream to watch.  In today's society, there are many platforms where people are naming the name of Jesus, so there are so many people who are not getting accurate scriptures or accurate information when it comes to the word of God.  Well as I was scrolling one particular live stream caught my eye.   On his live stream, it said “prophecy and spiritual readings”.  First thing that came to mind was "What?" I think I was shocked and confused at the same time. I was about to scroll away, but my curiosity got the best of me. So I watched a little.  Then he said something that made me get off his live stream all together.  First, He made the comment that he was a prophet and a psychic and he call his gifts his gifts.  Among other things that just rubbed me the wrong way.  Another one said he was “walking in prophetic an...

What a Friend!

Image
What a Friend  We all have friends that we have in our lives. Some of us have friends that we have known since grade school, and some of us have friends that we met over the years.  I have some good friends in my life. Two in particular, I have known for over 30 years.  I would do anything for my friends. Or would I?  How many of us can say that we would lay down our lives for a friend?  Something to think about right? Sure, it is easy to say "Yea, I would lay down my life for my best friend", but if the time came to do just that, will you will be willing? Jesus is a TRUE friend. He was willing to lay down his life so we could be saved. In John 19, it accounts what happened to Jesus when he was crucified on the cross. It shows all he had to endure just so we could be saved.  John 19:1-3 says: "Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, And said, H...

Why read the Bible?

Why read the Bible?  I was having a conversation with my children and I asked them a question.  " Why do we need to study the Bible?" And they gave me some great answers. One said "because it will help us" and one answered " because that is what we are suppose to do". Both answers were true, but I had to take it a step further and explain to them why it was important  for us as christians to read and study the Bible.  The word of God is so many things in our lives.  It will help us if we would dive deep into it.   When we get in to the Bible, we will find out so many thing that we can apply to our lives.  The Word of God Guides Us This weeks scripture for the week is Psalm 119:105 which says:  "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto our path". It is funny I started writing this blog about a week ago and when I went to get the scripture for the week, this is what God showed me. The word of God gives us direction and guides us in o...

Obeying the Lord

Image
I started attending a new church, and they have a daily bible reading guide. Each day has a different scripture to read as we are trying to read through the whole Bible.    As I was doing my bible reading for this morning, it has me in 1 Samuel. As I was reading the scripture, I was able to read something that I never had before.   In 1 Samuel Chapters 11-15, it shows two incidents that Saul, who was made king at the time, disobeyed what the Lord had told him to do. But the situation in chapter 15 is the one that got me.   “Thus, saith the Lord of host, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came from Egypt. Now go and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass” I Samuel 15:2 &3 (KJV)   So, the Lord told Samuel to tell Saul to go kill everything in Amalek. He wanted EVERYTHING destroyed. All the men, women, child...
