How to become better for 2026

As we are a few days into the New Year, I want us to keep a few things in mind.

We need to Keep God first.

                

  The most important thing is that we need to make sure we are keeping God first in our lives. One way we can do that is to make sure we are spending more time with God. As much as we spend time looking at social media feeds, we need to spend that time talking to God.  

 

Studying Gods word is one way we can spend more time with him. When we spend time in the bible, we get a better understanding of who God is to us and what he truly means to us. It shows us what God has for our lives and how we can achieve what the calling he has for our lives. 

We must take time also in prayer.  But we have to make sure that it is not a one sided conversation. We must be able to take the time and listen to what God has to say to us. 

Listening for the voice of the Lord so we can understand him, and we are able to communicate whatever we need to, and we are able to hear him talking to us. 

 

Trust God More

Proverbs 3: 5 & 6 says:

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy path”. (KJV)

As we go on this year, let us learn to allow God to lead and guide us in the right direction. Instead of us trying to figure it out on our own, let us put our faith and trust in God and let him show us how to conduct our lives. 

 

Let us not worry about what others may have to say about our walk with God, because our relationship with God is simply that, it is our own personal relationship, and no one can tell you about your relationship with God.  People will always have their own opinion on what you should be doing for God, and how you should do it.  That is where we need to put our trust in God and have faith the size of a grain of a mustard seed (Matthew 17:20, KJV), that he will lead our lives the right direction. 

 

When we do that, we can see God work in our lives, and he can make things clearer for us. 

 

 

Stay Consistent.

We start things, and we stop. Later, we start something and then we find ourselves stopping again.  If we are not careful, we find ourselves not being consistent with the things of God. 

Now this one is hard one for me, I am going to be honest. One thing God showed me last year was I needed to be more consistent in things that God had placed in my life to do. 

 

So, we need to try to be more aware about being consistent in things that God require of us and the things he has called us to do.

That may look different for you than it does for me, but that is something we need to work on. 

I could be us spending time with him, or it could be our prayer time. It could be that God is leading you to do something outside your comfort zone, whatever it may be, let us pray and ask God to help be more consistent with his work.

 

Helping Others

 

God requires us to help one another. I am not just taking about helping someone who needs money or food or cloths. That is important for us to do when we can bless others in that way.  

 

But we can also help others in other ways. Talk to someone who may not know who God is. Show them in God’s word how he can become the savior of their lives and how he can help them be saved. 

 

Tell them your testimony. Let them know what God has done for you in your life.  Show them where you came from and how God has brought you thought the roughest time of your life.

 

One thing that I was blessed to do last year was a Women’s Day at my previous church where me and another young lady was able to tell a little bit of our testimony to other women who may had been going through some of the things that we had gone through. 

 

We were able to be a blessing to others that day. 

 

Also, let us pray for others too. Sometimes when people as us to pray for them, we say ok and go about our day forgetting to pray for them. Sometimes you must stop what you are doing and pray for that person right there. 

 

Don’t be afraid to talk and pray for others. Allow God to use you to help someone who might just need a encouraging  word, or they may need someone just to give them a hug because they are having a bad day. Whatever people may need, allow God to work thought you. 

 

I posted a prayer for 2026 on New Years day, and I pray that we can grow together in God and be all that God had called us to be and more .
