The Excuse of "Tomorrow"

Image
We all have a lot of things in our lives that we need to get done. If you are like me, a wife and a mother, the “to do list” is a mile long.    It is always something that needs to be done. If it’s not for me, it’s for my husband or my boys. It is always somewhere to go, or somebody needs something.  So most of the time I have to get to that load of clothes or cleaning my house “TOMORROW.” We love to use the excuse of “tomorrow” when it’s things that we need to get done.  More often than not, it’s things that we can do today, but choose not to do it.  We find it easier to say " I will get to that thing tomorrow", than taking the time to get it done today.  It’s funny, because as I am sitting in the car riding to church and writing this, God is speaking directly to me. How many time did God tell you to do something, and you say “ Well Lord,  I will do it tomorrow”, or "I do not have time to do that right now", but you find the time to get on you phone a...

Becoming a Child of God

Image
One of my earliest memories that I can remember is my mother taking me to church. I don't think there was ever a time in my life where I was not in church.  My mother made sure she took us to church every Sunday.  One day, I remember going to my mother at the tender age of 6 years old and asking her about what it ment to be saved.  And I remember her taking me by the hand and with her bible in hand, talking to me about God and what it ment to be saved.  I got saved that day sitting in my living room at the age of 6. I was a child and I understood that becoming a child of God was one of the most important things that I needed in my life.  God has placed on my heart to write this blog a while ago, but I did not know how to or even what I was going to say.  But God being the loving God that he is showed me. So what does it mean to get saved and why is it so important.  When we are born, we all are born sinners. That means we have to learn about who God is...

What a Friend!

Image
What a Friend  We all have friends that we have in our lives. Some of us have friends that we have known since grade school, and some of us have friends that we met over the years.  I have some good friends in my life. Two in particular, I have known for over 30 years.  I would do anything for my friends. Or would I?  How many of us can say that we would lay down our lives for a friend?  Something to think about right? Sure, it is easy to say "Yea, I would lay down my life for my best friend", but if the time came to do just that, will you will be willing? Jesus is a TRUE friend. He was willing to lay down his life so we could be saved. In John 19, it accounts what happened to Jesus when he was crucified on the cross. It shows all he had to endure just so we could be saved.  John 19:1-3 says: "Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, And said, H...

Why read the Bible?

Why read the Bible?  I was having a conversation with my children and I asked them a question.  " Why do we need to study the Bible?" And they gave me some great answers. One said "because it will help us" and one answered " because that is what we are suppose to do". Both answers were true, but I had to take it a step further and explain to them why it was important  for us as christians to read and study the Bible.  The word of God is so many things in our lives.  It will help us if we would dive deep into it.   When we get in to the Bible, we will find out so many thing that we can apply to our lives.  The Word of God Guides Us This weeks scripture for the week is Psalm 119:105 which says:  "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto our path". It is funny I started writing this blog about a week ago and when I went to get the scripture for the week, this is what God showed me. The word of God gives us direction and guides us in o...

Obeying the Lord

Image
I started attending a new church, and they have a daily bible reading guide. Each day has a different scripture to read as we are trying to read through the whole Bible.    As I was doing my bible reading for this morning, it has me in 1 Samuel. As I was reading the scripture, I was able to read something that I never had before.   In 1 Samuel Chapters 11-15, it shows two incidents that Saul, who was made king at the time, disobeyed what the Lord had told him to do. But the situation in chapter 15 is the one that got me.   “Thus, saith the Lord of host, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came from Egypt. Now go and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass” I Samuel 15:2 &3 (KJV)   So, the Lord told Samuel to tell Saul to go kill everything in Amalek. He wanted EVERYTHING destroyed. All the men, women, child...
