Becoming a Child of God
One of my earliest memories that I can remember is my mother taking me to church. I don't think there was ever a time in my life where I was not in church.
My mother made sure she took us to church every Sunday.
One day, I remember going to my mother at the tender age of 6 years old and asking her about what it ment to be saved.
And I remember her taking me by the hand and with her bible in hand, talking to me about God and what it ment to be saved.
I got saved that day sitting in my living room at the age of 6.
I was a child and I understood that becoming a child of God was one of the most important things that I needed in my life.
God has placed on my heart to write this blog a while ago, but I did not know how to or even what I was going to say.
But God being the loving God that he is showed me.
So what does it mean to get saved and why is it so important.
When we are born, we all are born sinners. That means we have to learn about who God is and what he has done for us.
See, because the world was in a bad shape, God decided to send his Son Jesus in a form of man to be an ultimate sacrifice for us.
He went through his life, knowing what he was going to have to go through. He was beaten, bruised and hung on the cross for our sins.
John 3: 16 &17 says:
“ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
God loves us that much, that he allowed Jesus to go through all that he went through so we can have that opportunity to become his child.
Romand 5:8 says:
"You mean to tell me that even before I become saved, and I was in my sinful state, God love me that much?"
YES!! God had always loved us. That is why he sent Jesus to the cross to die for us so we can we can get saved.
So how do we become saved?
Romans 10: 10 says
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
So the first step in getting saved, is confessing your sins to God. Simply put, going to God and acknowledging that you know in your heart that you are a sinner.
If you go and read Psalms 51 in its entirety, it will give you a great example of confessing your sins to God. In this chapter, you see King David repenting his sins to God after he had sinned and slept with Bathsheba.
But the scripture in Palms 51 that really shows true repentance is in verse 3 and it says:
“For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.”
When you pray to God and confess your sins, you have to do it whole heartedly. See, David knew he had sinned against God. Instead of making excuses, he acknowledged his wrong doing.
We have to take accountability of what we have done. Then, and only then can we confess what we did wrong.
You have to truly mean what you say.
Then, after you confess your sins to God, then you ask God to forgive you your sins and come into your life and save you, and you must have faith in God that he will forgive you your sins and save you from all your sins..
Ephesians 2:8 & 9 it says:
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Well said sis.
