The Excuse of "Tomorrow"

We all have a lot of things in our lives that we need to get done. If you are like me, a wife and a mother, the “to do list” is a mile long.

It is always something that needs to be done. If it’s not for me, it’s for my husband or my boys. It is always somewhere to go, or somebody needs something.

So most of the time I have to get to that load of clothes or cleaning my house “TOMORROW.”

We love to use the excuse of “tomorrow” when it’s things that we need to get done.

More often than not, it’s things that we can do today, but choose not to do it.  We find it easier to say " I will get to that thing tomorrow", than taking the time to get it done today.

It’s funny, because as I am sitting in the car riding to church and writing this, God is speaking directly to me.

How many time did God tell you to do something, and you say “ Well Lord,  I will do it tomorrow”, or "I do not have time to do that right now", but you find the time to get on you phone and watch TikTok or Instagram?

Then tomorrow comes and go, and you have failed to obey God and what he has told you do, does not get done.

When you go ahead and do what God has told you to do, you find that opportunity  will not pass you bye.

It could have been that you needed to go to to the store for something and  God told you go to Walmart and get some eggs, because there was someone that needed a word, or someone might needed you pray for them. But because you used the excuse of doing it "tomorrow", you missed an opportunity to be a blessing to someone.

Proverbs 27:1 says:

Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.”

Simply put, stop saying that you will do things tomorrow, because tomorrow is not promised to us.

We cannot predict the future.  No one knows what will happen today or even in days to come. So we have to stop using the excuse of “tomorrow” as to why we don’t do what God  tells us to, and get it done, today. Because we do not know when tomorrow will not come for us.

How would you feel if you prayed and asked God for something and he replied " well I got a lot of people praying to me so I will have to get back to you.... tomorrow".

You would be upset.

So why is it when he tells us things to do we use that excuse?

We don't realize that we become prone to using that excuse, and we use it in every aspect of our lives, sometimes not realizing we have done it.

This insert is something that I found and I thought it was perfect:

"The excuse of "tomorrow" often serves as a comforting yet deceptive promise that we make to ourselves when faced with tasks or challenges we’d rather avoid. It’s the notion that by postponing action to another day, we somehow gain more control over our time and responsibilities. This delay tactic, however, frequently leads to a cycle of procrastination, where "tomorrow" becomes an ever-elusive horizon always just out of reach. While it provides a temporary reprieve from the anxiety of immediate obligations, relying too heavily on this excuse can hinder personal growth and achievement. Overcoming the habit of deferring tasks to tomorrow involves cultivating discipline, setting realistic goals, and embracing the discomfort of immediate action. By doing so, we empower ourselves to seize the present and unlock our potential for success and fulfillment."

Us as Christians have to stop using that excuse and do what God tells us to do right when he tells us to do it, and not wait or use the excuse of "tomorrow".

God bless.
