What a Friend 

We all have friends that we have in our lives. Some of us have friends that we have known since grade school, and some of us have friends that we met over the years. 

I have some good friends in my life. Two in particular, I have known for over 30 years. 

I would do anything for my friends. Or would I? 

How many of us can say that we would lay down our lives for a friend? 

Something to think about right?

Sure, it is easy to say "Yea, I would lay down my life for my best friend", but if the time came to do just that, will you will be willing?

Jesus is a TRUE friend. He was willing to lay down his life so we could be saved.

In John 19, it accounts what happened to Jesus when he was crucified on the cross. It shows all he had to endure just so we could be saved. 

John 19:1-3 says:

"Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands."

NOW THAT IS A FRIEND! 

Can you just imagine you having to endure all that Jesus had to endure? Now can you honestly Say you would lay down your life for a friend? 

Jesus went through so much so we could have a chance to get saved and live the life that God wants us to live. 

John 3:17 says 

“ For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

He was beaten, they put a crown of thorns on his head, they nailed him to a cross, and mocked him the whole way. Jesus, who has all power to stop them from doing this to him, took the beating, and the mocking and died on that cross just for me and you so we can be saved and live for eternity with him.

WHAT A FRIEND!
