James 5:16:Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (KJV)

Have you ever had anyone come to you and say “ hey, I’m going through right now will you pray for me?”

And nine times out of 10 our response is “Sure, I will pray for you.”

But then, just as soon as we get out of their site, we forget to pray.

Maybe it just slipped our minds. Maybe we just don’t care. But whatever the reason God tells us to pray for one another.

But why is it so important? Well, I’m glad you asked.

God requires us to pray for others.

1 Timothy 2:1 says “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.”   (KJV)

He wants us to intercede on others' behalf in prayer. That simply means that we are praying to God for some one else.

Some people may not know what to pray for, or they may not even know how to pray. It is up to us to pray for them.

See, sometimes people may be going through some things, they need someone else to pray for them. As Christians, we should always be willing and ready to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Not just them, but for everyone.

We may not know what they’re going through, and we may not understand what it is that they need prayer for, but we should always pray.

That’s why it’s so important that if you know somebody needs prayer, or if somebody comes to you and asks for prayer you stop what you are doing, if you can, and pray for them right then and there.

That’s not to say that you will always be able to stop right then and there and pray for somebody but if somebody asks for prayer, it is our job as Christians to pray for them, whether we like them or not, whether we know what to pray for or not.

That’s why when I pray for others, whether I know the situation or not, I always pray “Lord your will be done.” Because I know the outcome that I would like for it to be, but it’s always the Lord’s will being done.

We should always take the time to pray for others. So keep me in your prayers and I will do the same thing for you.

God bless.
